Since its establishment in 1955, bearing
the name of “East Regional Laboratories” of the PCSIR, it is the prime
multidisciplinary research unit of Bangladesh Council of Scientific and
Industrial Research (BCSIR) which plays an important role in R&D sector. At
present it has eight divisions engaged in research with the aim and objective
of developing technology and achieving self-reliance in industrial development.
In addition to R&D activities it also renders analytical services to public
and private organizations.
A number of very sophisticated
laboratories are going to be established under the Annual Development Program
of GOB (ADP) intensifying the research capacity to deliver utmost services to
the industries. And procurement of many state of the art equipment through
these projects will also broaden the field of analytical service rendered by
BCSIR.
I would like to express my profound gratitude
to the Chairman, BCSIR for his continuous inspiration to bring out this annual
report. I also express my heartfelt thanks to the editorial committee,
scientists, officers and staffs for their unstinted co-operation.
